Kanpur: The court of District Judge sentenced seven members of a family, including five brothers, to life imprisonment for murdering a man over a land dispute in Shivli Kotwali area of Kanpur Dehat in 2017. A fine of Rs 11,000 each was also imposed on all the accused.
District government advocate Raju Porwal said Shailendra, resident of Majra Kalyanpur of of Shivli Kotwali area in Jugrajpur Bithoor village, was attacked with sticks and rods in front of his father Ram Swaroop (80), on August 15, 2017.Shailendra succumbed to the injuries and Ram Swaroop filed a case in Shivli Kotwali against Ram Narayan alias Nambari, Ajmer Singh, Prakash, Ramesh, Suresh and Ajmer’s sons Pankaj and Neeraj of the same village.
Police arrested all the accused and sent them to jail. The investigating officer filed charge sheets against them in the court of District Judge Jaiprakash Tiwari. On Wednesday, the court found all seven guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment. tnn
