Ludhiana: Reacting on Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s announcement to end the requirement of no-objection certificate (NOC) on registration of property, realtors of the city have asked the government to first issue a notification.
They said the government has made a lot of announcements on its social media accounts in the past, but failed to implement them.
They also pointed out that the government had yet to come up with any notification or order pertaining to the announcement. They said instead of doing away with NOC, the government should ease or simplify the process of obtaining the certificate.
Gurvinder Singh Lamba, president of Punjab Colonisers and Property Dealers Association, said, “Chief minister Bhagwant Mann and his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal had last year met us and other industrialists here. During the meeting, Mann made several announcements and promises pertaining to the real-estate sector. However, he failed to issue any order and notification about those announcements.”
“If the government is serious on this issue, the announcement should be notified as soon as possible. Ideally, the government needs to issue the order first before doing the talk,” he added.
Deepak Banyal, general secretary of the association, said, “Instead of withdrawing the requirement of NOC, it should simplify the process. Besides, if it really wanted to do away with the NOC, the government should impose development charges while approving the building plans at unapproved colonies.”
