NIA, I-T teams seize Rs 1.3 crore in Bhagalpur, realtor held – Times of India

BHAGALPUR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Income Tax sleuths on Thursday seized Rs 1.3 crore in cash, jewellery and land-related papers from the house and business establishments of a Bhagalpur property dealer, who allegedly had connections with a jailed Jharkhand gangster, sources said.
Property dealer Shankar Yadav was arrested by the raiding teams, which had come from Ranchi to Bhagalpur on a tip-off about his close connection with jailed gangster Aman Sahu.
A policeman, on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the NIA and I-T teams conducted raids in the Barari area. However, no official statement was available on the raids till late evening.
According to sources, the NIA took Yadav to Ranchi for further interrogation. The sources said that Sahu and his brother Akash used to take shelter at the house of Yadav in Barari Housing Colony and invest money in clandestine dealings, including of land, with him. The sources did not rule out his close connections with gangs operating in Jharkhand.
They said Yadav, who also has tractor and building material agencies, had association with shady dealers in Ranchi. The raiding team also seized a diary, in which names and mobile numbers, besides the details of the dealings with his associates at Naugachia, Madhepura, Nathnagar and Sabour among other places were mentioned, they added.
