CHENNAI: Southern Railway has done well in the area of commissioning of projects including upgrading infrastructure, increasing sectional speed and others in 2022-23 and 2023-24 (till Jan), said general manager R N Singh.
Speaking at the 68th Railway Week celebrations on Friday, Singh said the zone also introduced new trains, augmented coaches, introduced modern coaches, increased platform length and improved passenger amenities and onboard services. “These measures have helped us enhance our image in the minds of the public,” he added.
He congratulated the railway divisions for winning shields based on performance and other awardees.
The general manager’s inter divisional overall efficiency shield was bagged by Chennai division. Trichy division clinched the runners up shield.
The general manager gave away 38 efficiency shields to different divisions and units for outstanding performance.
Seventeen officers and 82 staff were honoured with individual awards for meritorious performance.
At the 68th Railway Week Celebrations organised in Chennai division, divisional railway manager B Vishwanath Eerya distributed awards to the employees in recognition of their meritorious service during the year 2022-23.
Bharathidasan Scouts and Kasturi Bai Guides, Katpadi, were awarded a shield for the best unit for Scouts and Guides and Valluvar and Vasuki Scouts and Guide groups were awarded the runner up shield.
