Jaipur: The Assembly on Thursday witnessed uproarious scenes during the presentation of the Interim Budget by finance minister Diya Kumari who targeted the former Congress government in her speech.
The minister accused the previous Congress government of financial mismanagement, corruption and lack of vision. She held it responsible for the financial burden on the state and the financial burden on the electricity companies, among others. As the minister blamed the former government in between her speech impromptu, the opposition Congress members raised objections and created uproar in the House.
At one time. they reached the well shouting slogans.
Speaker Vasudev Devnani pacified them, and they returned to their seats. Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma intervened and requested them to listen to the budget speech presented by the woman finance minister.
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully said there is no objection over the presentation of the Vote on Account by a woman minister, but it was inappropriate to make political allegations in it. Union finance minister is also a woman, he said.
He said that the finance minister should not include political insinuations in her speech and should only read out what is written in the Budget. The House came in order when the finance minister started reading the speech without making any allegations on the previous government.
