Court relief for Bodhan former MLA Shakil | Hyderabad News – Times of India

Hyderabad: Justice K Lakshman of Telangana high court on Friday suspended the lookout circulars issued against BRS former MLA Mohammed Shakil Aamir and two other accused in the Dec 24 Begumpet hit-and-run case involving a BMW car.
The judge also directed police not to arrest the trio in the case. However, the judge put a condition that the accused must return to Hyderabad from Dubai and keep themselves available to the investigators. They fled to Dubai immediately after police got wind of their role in the case.
According to cops, though they initially booked a person for the accident that resulted in damage to the road barricade at Praja Bhavan, they later came across evidence that it was Shakil’s son Raheel Aamir who caused the accident in an inebriated condition.
Police also arrested two inspectors of police for colluding with the former MLA and tried to hush up the case by showing an unconnected man as responsible for the accident. They have done it to protect the ex-legislator’s son who escaped from Panjagutta police station and later fled to Dubai. Shakil too made himself inaccessible to the law by running away to Dubai.
The former legislator’s counsel, B Vivekananda, argued that police were acting in an unfair manner. “They are asking the accused to come down to Hyderabad and upon their arrival, will arrest them by showing the LOC. The case involved no loss or injuries to any human beings, it only damaged the road barricade and the law says there is no need for arrests in such cases. But, police are surprisingly arresting even department personnel in the case,” he said.
Public prosecutor Palle Nageswara Rao said the case has serious dimensions because the accused went to the extent of dragging cops into conspiracy.
“It was with their help, an innocent was implicated in case. This planting of unconnected people as accused is a serious issue,” the PP said, adding that unless they question main accused, the investigation cannot progress.
The judge disposed of the case directing accused to appear before cops as and when they seek their presence.
