Patna: A day after state BJP president and party’s deputy chief minister in Bihar Samrat Choudhary declared that his party has not given up its resolve to form its own government in Bihar, the JD(U) of chief minister Nitish Kumar reacted cautiously saying this could be an attempt to boost up the morale of workers in the saffron camp. But analysts described it as a “politically immature statement”, which will adversely impact the NDA poll prospects.RJD also said the “game” has only just begun.
Addressing a party function on Thursday, Choudhary said, “Aaj ham NDA me kaam kar rahe hain, imandari se NDA sarkar chalayenge lekin sankalp hamara spasht hai—Ham ek din BJP ki bhi Bihar me sarkar banayenge. Isse kabhi peechhe nahin hatenge (We are part of the NDA govt and will run it honestly, but our vision is clear, we will form our own BJP govt in Bihar one day. Will never go back from this promise).”
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said each political party holds the right to boost up the morale of its workers by making such announcements. He said the Congress too has been saying the next govt at the Centre would be formed under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and RJD claims Tejashwi would head the next govt in Bihar.
Stating that coalition politics is the “necessity” in the country, Kumar said the top NDA leadership would decide about the 2025 assembly elections in the state.
Another JD(U) leader, preferring anonymity, described Choudhary’s remark as an “immature statement” which is certainly not good for the future of alliance. “This will create confusion among the JD(U) cadres and cause resentment,” he said.
RJD said Tejashwi had already alerted the JD(U) when he talked about “khela to abhi shuru hua hai”, but the latter took it differently. “BJP got Nitish to its side only to create the perception that the man who was the architect of the opposition unity was to his camp now. Now BJP says it will form its own govt even while the NDA govt is to seek trust vote on the floor of the House on February 12. Nitish must know that his utility is lost now,” state RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav told reporters on Friday.
