119 acres of temple land worth 120 crore retrieved in Salem – Latest News | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Salem: Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) officials on Saturday retrieved 119 acres of temple land worth 120 crore from encroachers in Salem district.
According to K Raja, assistant commissioner of HR&CE, land belonging to Ulageswarar Temple, Sendraya Perumal Temple, Kattu Sendraya Perumal Temple, Anai Muniappan Temple, Thesavilakku Mariamman Temple, Anai Vinayagar Temple and Thuttampatty Mariamman Temple at Thesavilakku village were encroached upon by local residents.All the 10 temples were under the HR&CE department.
“The Madras high court had recently directed us to retrieve the land from the encroachers and hand them over to the concerned temple authorities for maintenance. Based on the court direction, we have evicted the encroachers and retrieved 119 acres of temple land,” Raja said. TNN
