Chennai: More than 7,000 healthcare providers including doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff were given certificates and medals by the health department for outstanding service during Cyclone Michaung in Dec.
“After the cyclone, CM Stalin wanted us to ensure there is no spread of communicable diseases. More than 14,000 mobile teams organised special medical camps in four districts — Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chennai between Dec 6 and Dec 20 in which 8.45 lakh people benefited,” said health minister Ma Subramanian.From Dec 17 to Jan 12, more than 10,000 camps were conducted in the southern region, he said after handing over certificates to doctors, nurses and health staff who organised these camps.
