History Literature Festival in Pune: Discussions on Cinema, Food, and Music | Pune News – Times of India

Pune: The history literature festival began in the city on Friday with speakers discussing antiquity of cinema, food and music.
Over 2,500 people have registered for the festival, so far.
The event was scheduled between Feb 9 and 11 at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. The programme would host 40 speakers over three days.
The festival began with a panel on cinema.It included filmmaker Nandita Das, renowned actor and psychiatrist Dr Mohan Agashe and screenwriter Anjum Rajabali. The panel provided their perspective on a wide range of topics —advent of corporates in the film industry, impact of films on society, gender in cinema and role of writers. Discussions on cinema were followed by a session on history of food. Speakers Pushpesh Pant, Kurush F Dalal and Pradeep Apte spoke about the production and consumption of millets throughout the country.
On Feb 10, the festival saw sessions detailing cultural nuances of the Indian railways from classic literature like Rudyard Kipling’s ‘Kim’ to the film ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, followed by a session on the rich tapestry of Pune. The day ended with a session on the role of women in Indian epics, followed by a musical performance. The three days would be all about the archaeological, mythological, political, regional and business history of India.
