Patna: There may not be any respite from the cold condition soon as another spell of rain is likely in the state from February 13 to 15 owing to the western disturbances in north India, which will intensify over the early next week. North-westerly and westerly winds have already brought the temperature down by 2-3 degrees Celsius day and night.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted overcast condition in most parts of the state and issued yellow alert for thunderstorm with lightning, which is likely to occur at one or two places in south-west and south-central parts (including Patna) of the state on Tuesday (February 13).The southern part of the state will receive rain accompanied with lighting on February 14, the IMD said.
The weathermen have also predicted light to moderate shower at a few places in Kishanganj, Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa, Araria, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Khagaria and Jamui on February 15. During the next four days, the minimum temperature of Bihar will be in the range of 10-14 degrees C while the maximum will remain between 22 and 26 degrees C.
Kumar Gaurav, a scientist at Patna Meteorological Centre said, “Rainfall in the state is likely due to cyclonic circulation that lies over south Gujarat region and neighbourhood at 1.5km above the mean sea level. It is likely to reach south Bihar by February 13 via Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, an anti-cyclone system is also advancing over the north-west Bay of Bengal near the Odisha coast, which is likely to push the humid winds towards eastern parts of India. When these winds will clash with north-westerly winds coming from the Himalayan region, it will trigger cloud formation and is likely to bring scattered rainfall across the region.”
