Ara: A 55-year-old widow was allegedly raped by a man in his 30s from the same locality after he hit the woman on his head with a stick when she was cutting grass in a field in Bhojpur district on Friday.
The woman alleged that the man unknown to her accused the victim of cutting grass from his field. “All of a sudden he hit me hard on my head. When I fell down, he raped me. Later he also threatened me not to tell anyone about the incident. However, when I started crying and shouting, some people came and caught him,” the woman told the mediapersons.
A member of Dial 112 police team said they were informed about the incident and arrested the accused, who was beaten up by the locals.
The accused, who is undergoing treatment at the Sadar hospital Ara, claimed that he was drunk. “I have committed a ‘galat kaam’,” the accused said on Saturday.
Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar said the accused belongs to a nearby village. “Both the victim woman and the accused have been admitted to hospital. Further action will be taken in the case as per the provisions of the law,” he said.
