Pune: Five cars and SUVs were damaged after a tanker hit them on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass on Saturday afternoon.
No one was injured in the accident, the Bharati Vidyapeeth police said.
Senior inspector Dashrath Patil of Bharati Vidyapeeth police said, “The tanker was heading towards Navale Bridge from Katraj chowk and the damaged LMVs were travelling in the same direction.”
“There is a slope towards Navale Bridge from Katraj and the truck driver lost control over the wheel in this section.The truck went on hitting the vehicles from behind,” Patil said, adding that the police have initiated a process to register a case against the tanker driver.
“The vehicular movement on the busy bypass section was disrupted for nearly an hour. Our team removed the damaged vehicles from the spot and cleared the traffic,” Patil said.
The spot has reported several accidents in the past few years and several corrective measures like road widening and road markings have been undertaken.

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) have banned vehicular traffic on Cemetery Road towards GA Road in Old Washermenpet to facilitate the commencement of pedestrian plaza work by the GCC at MC Road. The pedestrian plaza will span from MC Road-Cemetery Road junction to MC Road-GC Road junction.
