Chennai: Nearly two years after fire engulfed the centenary-year-old building at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in April 2022, health minister Ma Subramanian laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new building for department of neurology on Saturday.
The 65 crore building will have four floors spread across 1,12,247 square feet, he said.
“Construction of a new building for the neurology department in lakh square feet was announced during the assembly session last year. Construction will begin today,” he said.
Another building with five floors, six laboratories, 40 hostel rooms, and a conference hall constructed for ₹12.65 crore at the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife Training School in Egmore was inaugurated on Saturday.
