Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, while attending the concluding day of the 93rd annual session of the Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha on Sunday, announced Rs 3 crore assistance for the Sangha’s thrift and credit co-operative society.
Hailing the continuous efforts of the Sangha in spreading the teachings of Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankaradeva since its inception in 1930, the CM said the Sangha has been working tirelessly in taking the philosophy and ideology of the great saint to the new generation.
He said the strong organisational base of the Sangha is the backbone of its role in spreading Sankaradeva’s philosophy and ideology.
“Our govt is leaving no stone unturned to complement the Sangha’s founding objectives. The expansion of Borduwa Than and the establishment of Srimanta Sankardev Chair at the Jawaharlal Nehru University are some of the major efforts we have taken to create a nationwide awareness of the life and thoughts of Assam’s greatest saint,” Sarma said.
