Cold Wave Revives Across Rajasthan, Sikar Shivers at 1.4°C | Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: Cold wave conditions revived in the state on Sunday when a drop of almost 4 degrees Celsius was witnessed in minimum and maximum temperatures across the state. Sikar recorded the coldest temperature in the state with a minimum of 1.5 degrees Celsius, Met reports said.
Attributing the dip in mercury to revival of northerly winds and snowfall at hill stations, the Met office in Jaipur said that minor respite from the shivering cold conditions would be witnessed on Monday.
People in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively chilly morning when a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees less from the normal notch, was recorded. It was followed by a bright sunny afternoon when a maximum temperature of 24.4 degree Celsius was recorded. In the evening, chilly winds swept across the city and guided the mercury to take a further dip. Since no fog and mist was present in the morning, the air, road and rail traffic was smooth from Jaipur.
The Met office said that mercury will continue to take a dip across the state in the coming days. However, from Wednesday, there is a possibility of cloudy conditions due to the impact of the western disturbances.
Sikar was followed by Fatehpur where a minimum temperature of 2.9 degrees Celsius was recorded, Sangariya 4.4°C, Karauli 4.5°C, Bhilwara 4.8°C, Churu 5.0°C, Anta 5.8°C, Alwar 6.0°C, Pilani 6.2°C, Vanasthali 7.0°C, Chittorgarh 7.4°C, Udaipur 8.2°C, Kota 8.6°C, Ajmer 9.3°C, Jaisalmer 10.4°C, Barmer 11.0°C, and a minimum temperature of 12°C was recorded at Jodhpur.
The Met office further said that in the coming week the temperatures will start rising. “A few spells of rainfall will also occur. However, after February 19, the mercury will continue to take an upward swing and the rising trend of temperatures will continue,” said an officer with the Met office at Jaipur.
