Ndmc’s New Hospital For Animals Likely To Start Ops By May-end | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council aimed to make its new veterinary hospital near Bidhan Chandra Vidyalaya, Moti Bagh, fully operational by May end.
“Work is in progress at the site and not more than a month will be required to wrap up pending construction works. Thereafter, we will be arranging all modern equipment here. Other features at the building included facilities for toilets, parking, firefighting system, internal and external electric work,” said a senior council official.
The hospital aims to provide comprehensive medical care under one roof to strays and pets, said officials, adding that it will even have OPD for small animals.
“The hospital will be equipped with imaging facilities, operation theatres, surgery recovery units, outpatient departments and an audio-visual consultation room, procedure and registration rooms,” said the official.
Equipped with modern facilities, the three-storied RCC framed structure will have lifts and power back-up. The new building, built over an area of 420 square metres, will be made quake-proof.
As of now, the council’s veterinary hospital in Moti Bagh, constructed about 45 years back, lacked modern facilities. “In comparison, the new hospital is expected to cater to the needs of 150-200 animals daily and much advanced. This health facility will provide advanced treatment at reasonable charges, motivating pet owners to bring their pets here,” the official added.
“Once the new hospital becomes fully operational, we have plans to demolish the old complex and develop a multi-specialty hospital for the general public at this place. But the beginning of the work will take time,” said officials.
The civic body also plans to have an office of animal birth control at the new complex, which will keep details of sterilisation done by two NGOs in the NDMC area.
