Bhubaneswar: US-based multi-national company Cognizant opened its centre in the city. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the facility at the Odisha Technology Centre on Sunday in the presence of company’s CEO Ravi Kumar S.
“I am delighted that Cognizant has chosen Bhubaneswar as the launchpad for its expansion across emerging technology hubs in India,” said Naveen, adding, “With our proactive policies and administration, we will fully support the functioning of the centre. We are confident that Cognizant’s presence will help create new high-value jobs for the youth of Odisha and contribute to its growth story.”
He said the swift collaboration between Cognizant and Odisha govt’s electronics and information technology department for establishment of the centre within seven months is truly commendable. “We are excited to open our centre in Bhubaneswar, which has emerged as an education hub with highly skilled talent and robust infrastructure,” said CEO Kumar.
He said Odisha’s 200 tech colleges will act as feeders for the company. “Odisha will be a mega hub for the company. We are planning to move a lot of our people to this centre,” he added.
Cognizant will also bring its decades-long tradition of serving communities to Bhubaneswar through Cognizant Outreach — its associate volunteering programme — as well as the focused work of Cognizant Foundation in India. States electronics and IT minister Tusharkanti Behera and 5T chairman V K Pandian, among others, attended.
