Patna: The gross state domestic product (GSDP) of Bihar is estimated to grow by 15.5% to Rs 7.5 lakh crore, whereas the real GSDP is estimated to grow by 10.6% to Rs 4.4 lakh crore in 2022-2023, according to the Economic Survey (ES) report for 2023-24 that was tabled in the state assembly on Monday by finance minister-cum-deputy CM Samrat Choudhary.
In what could be the indication of the state’s growing economy, the size of air transport has jumped seven times from Rs 30 crore in 2011-12 to Rs 228 crore in 2022-23.
“The air transport sector recorded an annual growth of 59% during 2022-23, compared to the previous year,” the report said. It is, in fact, the highest growth that has been recorded in the segments of all the three sectors – primary (agriculture), secondary (industrial) and tertiary (services). Not surprisingly, the ES report qualifies the growth in air transport as “substantial”.
