Basant Panchami snan today – Focus on high density spots on Magh Mela campus | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: After analysing the highest crowd density spots in the ongoing Magh Mela with the help of AI driven camera and crowd analytics software during Mauni Amvasya Snan wherein over 2.18 crore devotees took dip in the Sangam, the Magh Mela police on Tuesday drafted a fresh crowd management and security plan for the fourth main snan of Magh Mela – Basant Panchami – on Wednesday.
Additional forces have been assigned duties at five static points — Sangam noze, Kali Sadak, Akhara Marg, Mori ghat and Parade — for better crowd management during the ‘snan’, likely to be attended by over 40 to 50 lakhs devotees. DIG ( Magh Mela) Rajeev Narain Mishra told TOI, “Elaborate security arrangements are in place for the Basant Panchmi snan on Wednesday. A team of 150 cops with the help of IT experts at Integrated Control & Command Centre (ICCC) reviewed densely populated pockets in the ongoing Magh Mela and found that the density of devotees and pilgrims was the highest at Sangam noze, followed by Kali Sadak, Pontoon bridges, Akhara Marg, Mori ghat and Parade.” The experts are taking help of AI driven CCTV network to take view of arrival and departure of visitors.
“A strong posse of 5,500 police forces including two companies of para-military forces and ATS commandos have been deployed in all five sectors of mela campus,” said DIG adding, “Duties of jawans of jal police, and PAC (flood control) battalions have been made on 12 ghats .”
Apart from deployment of adequate police forces for foolproof security measures, police have focussed on traffic management and parking in and around Mela campus.
Barricade have also been placed at specific routes, including Yamuna Bridge road and Jhunsi road to maintain the flow of crowd during the Basant Panchami snan. Meanwhile, despite rain and cold weather, the pilgrims and devotees continue to flock Mela campus from neighbouring districts and states to take holy dip on the occasion of Basant Panchami. The rains failed to deter the spirit of devotees who covered long distances to reach tent city and perform rituals on the occasion of Basant Panchami. Religious, social and spiritual organisations camping at Magh Mela have made special arrangements for Goddess Saraswati puja at their respective camps. Noted religious scholar and spiritual guru Dr Amitabh Gour says, “The festival Basant Panchami, holds religious significance among Hindus, is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Devotees especially students celebrate the festival with great enthusiasm and zeal. On this auspicious day, devotees apart from worshiping Goddess Saraswati, also organise special puja and events. It is also considered auspicious to start learning new things and new skills on this day.
They observe fast and offer prayers to the Goddess. Maa Saraswati is the Goddess of knowledge, learning, music, academics and arts so this day is considered auspicious for enrolling in any course, starting studies .
