Patna: A scuffle broke out between trainee doctors and paramedical students over collection of donation for Saraswati Puja on the IGIMS campus under Shastri Nagar police station area in Patna on Tuesday. Several students were injured in the clash.
Paramedical students alleged that dozens of trainee doctors were forcing them to contribute for the festival although they are also putting up their own pandal to install the idol of goddess Saraswati on the hospital campus. “When we refused to pay, the trainee doctors started assaulting us and tearing our clothes. Some girl students were also attacked,” one of the students alleged.
The paramedical students have submitted a written complaint at Shastri Nagar police station. However, after the intervention of IGIMS’s medical superintendent Dr Manish Mandal, the matter was resolved. According to the hospital administration, the written complaint was withdrawn. Paramedical students and trainee doctors have been allowed by the hospital administration to organise puja separately.
