Lucknow: Chief Secretary DS Mishra on Wednesday announced that Ayodhya would have 24×7 water supply within two years. Speaking at the concluding day of AMRUT 2.0 water conclave in Lucknow, the CS said that a scheme to provide 24×7 water to Ayodhya, on the lines of Odisha model, was in progress and within two years, the facility would be available in Ayodhya.
Speaking about the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, he said water connections had been provided to over 43 lakh households while 5 lakh homes had been connected with sewerage under it. The govt had also given clearance for revival of 166 AMRUT Sarovars. “To make cities clean, and pollution free, AMRUT scheme is beneficial for revival of water bodies, conservation of rainwater, better management of natural sources of water etc,” he said. He asked all urban local bodies to prepare plans for better water supply in their areas and get necessary clearances.
The conclave saw discussions on clean water supply, use of technology in the water sector and innovation in the water sector. Other subjects that were discussed in detail during the event included 24×7 water supply under ‘Drink From Tap’ scheme, advanced technologies for water purification, non-revenue water, PPP mode, municipal bonds, smart water management and public participation.
