CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday alleged that DMK and its allies have done little to get funds from the Centre though they won a total of 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Talking to reporters, the former chief minister said the parties were refusing to seek funds in parliament.
“Funds will come only if you ask at an appropriate place. AIADMK fought and got funds. Have you voiced in parliament? How many times have you got the houses postponed due to your protests? You have done nothing,” Palaniswami said, recalling the protests by AIADMK members in both houses of parliament for Cauvery water, leading to postponement of session for days.
EPS noted that AIADMK has no members in Lok Sabha. “We had one member (P Ravindhranath) But he left,” he said.
The AIADMK leader alleged lack of responses from the chief minister to his queries on various issues, including the MoUs signed with the investors, 52 committees set up for various reasons, and unimplemented poll promises of the DMK, including inter-linking of rivers, Sethusamudram shipping canal project, release of pending statutory dues to the transport staff, old pension scheme. “Of the 520 promises, only 10% were implemented. DMK government deceives both literates and illiterates,” he said.
The chief minister did not provide information even on the expenditure incurred by the government towards restoration of damage caused by cyclone Michaung and heavy rainfall in the southern districts, he said. The government did nothing to bring down the prices of essential commodities, Palaniswami alleged.
