Bengaluru: The govt has proposed to extend midday meals during summer vacation in drought-hit regions. This has been a practice in the state in previous years.
In a recent circular, the director of PM Poshan, department of school education, asked local officials to give the count of students who’d need food during April-May, the area from where the child would receive the meal and which school should distribute it.
The proposal is to extend the programme for 41 days, benefiting around 55 lakh students. The midday meals programme ends by April 10; meals for summer vacation have been planned from April 11 to last week of May. TNN
