My NCP is of common man, will remain united: Pawar Senior | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Sharad Pawar appeared unfazed by Speaker’s verdict recognising the Ajit Pawar faction as the “real” Nationalist Congress Party on the basis of legislative majority. NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) president said the party he had founded was one of “common people” and despite the challenges posed by Election Commission and Speaker’s order, he was confident it would hold together on the strength of mass support.
Addressing party workers at Shanmukhananda hall in Matunga, Pawar said nearly 25 years ago he had launched NCP in the same hall. Lakhs of party workers had gathered there to extend support to him, he said. “When we formed the party, within three weeks we were entrusted with the task of governing the state, and we did it successfully,” Pawar added, referring to UPA coalition govt formed in the state in 1999 along with Congress.
He said, “My party belongs to common people. Although it is going through a turbulent period, no one should worry about the challenges . There is a need to stay united and work towards improving the image of the state…. NCP is a party of common people. People from all walks of life are with me. We will stay united and make decisions that will benefit the next generation.”
NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule criticised Speaker’s order, saying it was a replica of the order on two Shiv Senas. “In my opinion, it is a ridiculous, copy paste order. An invisible power was taking all possible steps to finish off NCP led by Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena, both significant parties in the state. We cannot expect justice from Narwekar, his decision is laughable. The entire country is being run by bypassing the rules, laws and constitutional norms,” Sule said.
