Jaisalmer: A married woman in Balu village in Samdadi police station area of Balotara district on Tuesday night allegedly threw her two children into the water tank built at her home and then jumped into it while her husband was working in the fields. On coming home, he saw the bodies in the tank. Samdadi police reached the spot and sent the bodies to mortuary.The woman’s parents did not lodge any complaint and the bodies were handed over to them after postmortem on Wednesday, police said.
Samdadi SHO Mahesh Goyal said that Nakhat Kanwar, 35, wife of Bhim Singh, resident of Balu village, came home on Tuesday at 5pm from her parents’ house after staying there for 7 days with her children Puja Kanwar, 10, and Jog Singh, 7. When she came home, her husband was working in the fields. Neighbours reported seeing her and her children at their home, the SHO said.
The SHO said the postmortem confirmed that the woman and her children died of drowning. The deceased was married 14 years ago and had three children, one of whom stays at maternal grandparents’ home.
