KOLKATA: A 50-year-old woman, staying at the 36th floor of a high-rise in a condominium off EM Bypass, reportedly jumped off her residence early on Thursday. She was immediately rushed to CNMC Hospital where she was declared dead. “We have also recovered a suicide note in this regard,” said DC (East) Arish Bilal.
The woman, Sumana Pal, had reportedly been suffering from acute depression, claimed cops. Sources said there were multiple personal issues that had been bothering her.
“There was a loud thud around 5.15 am and security guards and morning walkers rushed to the spot. The woman was lying in a pool of blood,” said a police officer.
According to police, Pal was at her residence along with her son and two domestic helps. Her husband was not at home, said cops. Her daughter was away from the city and was attending a programme in south India. Cops said the exact reasons behind her decision are yet to be ascertained.
“The suicide note does not mention any particular reason though it is clear that she was in depression. She has stated that no one should be blamed for her decision and has even thanked several family members for supporting her,” said an officer.
