BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday dedicated 73 govt hospitals transformed under the Ama Hospital programme and dialysis centres at five sub-divisional hospitals in the state. The Ama Hospitals are in 15 districts.
Govt has transformed 13 hospitals in Ganjam district, nine in Mayurbhanj, seven in Sundargarh, six in Keonjhar and five each in Bargarh and Kendrapada district. Other districts were Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Nuapada and Malkangiri.
The dialysis centres have been set up at sub-division hospitals of Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district, Kuchinda in Sambalpur district, Hinjilicut in Ganjam district, Khariar in Nuapada district and Padampur in Bargarh district.
Naveen said the state has set a target to transform 1858 hospitals under the Ama Hospital programme of 5T initiative in the next five years. For this, Rs 3300 crore will be spent between 2023 and 2028. “Now transformation of 149 hospitals is underway in the state,” he added.
He said these facilities have been developed in the hospitals keeping the convenience of people in mind. “Main objective of the programme is to provide better treatment facilities to our people. The Ama Hospitals will create a new era in healthcare service of the state,” he added.
The chief minister said state govt has appointed 4,000 doctors and 3,700 nurses in the govt hospitals within a year. All categories of people get free healthcare facilities in the govt hospitals. Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) is a model in providing treatment facilities to people. “We will fulfil the dream of ‘Healthy Odisha, Happy Odisha’ with the help of all,” he added.
Naveen inaugurated a patient feedback system through ‘interactive voice response system (IVRS)’ in all district headquarters hospitals (DHHs). He also launched a biometric attendance system through facial recognition software.
