Fire in Mumbai’s Govandi: 15 Commercial Units and Houses Damaged | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A fire broke out in a chawl in Mumbai’s Govandi area early on Saturday, damaging around 15 commercial units and some houses.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to an official. The fire brigade received a call at 3.55am, alerting them about the blaze.
“Around 15 galas (commercial units) on the ground floor and some houses on the first floor were damaged in the fire that broke out in a chawl at Bainganwadi in Adarsh Nagar area of Govandi,” the fire brigade official said.
The fire engulfed electrical wiring, installations, plastic sheets, household items, wooden planks, and furniture. Efforts are currently under way to extinguish the flames. Water tankers and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene, the official added.
No injuries have been reported so far, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
