Bengaluru: The govt is gearing up to host a two-day ‘Constitution & National Unity’ convention in Bengaluru from Feb 24 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution.
CM Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the convention aims to shed light on prevalent issues affecting India, particularly those concerning individuals in the lower strata of society.
Distinguished thinkers and intellectuals from across the nation, including Ashutosh Varshney, Medha Patkar, GN Devy, Jayanti Ghosh, Sukhdev Thorat, Prashant Bhushan and Bezwada Wilson are expected to attend the convention.
A large rally is planned on Feb 25 as part of the commemorative event, the CM added. A jatha, initiated by the state govt on Jan 26 to raise awareness about the Constitution, will culminate in Bengaluru on Feb 23. “The convention and the jatha are integral to our govt’s commitment to celebrating 75th anniversary of the Constitution meaning-fully,” the CM said. tnn
