AMRAVATI: Four cricketers died on the spot while five other team members were seriously injured when their mini bus collided head-on with a concrete mixer truck near Shinganapur in Nandgaon Khandeshwar tehsil of the district in Maharashtra on Sunday morning. The cricketers were headed to Yavatmal to participate in a tennis-ball cricket tournament there. They boarded the bus (MH 27/BX 1755) at Amravati.Around 7am, when they reached an intersection at Shivangaon, the bus collided with a concrete mixer truck, (GJ 39/T 9353), killing four members of the team. Shrihari Raut, Zyush Bahale, Suyash Ambarte, and Sandesh Padar.
Some of the injured players have been admitted to taluka health centre while others were taken to a private hospital in Amravati where their relatives gathered in large numbers.
Police identified the seriously injured cricketers as Prajwal Buche, Laukik Paymase, Mayur Nagpure, Mangesh Pande, and Harish Dhage.
Bhushan Pivaskar, Prajwal Koche, Pranay Yevatikar, Dhiraj Raut, Vedant Akhare, Saurabh Kumre, Om Atalkar, Hariom Lunge, Bhushan Padar, Jai Deshmukh, Akshay Chaudhary, Sanket Chavade, Aniruddh Akre, Subodh Dahake, and Rahil Katre suffered minor injuries, police said.
