Hubballi: The Karnataka State Law University in Hubballi is set to enhance its infrastructure with a new hi-tech administrative building costing Rs 40 crore. The addition of a separate block aims to address various challenges faced by the university, including space constraints and accommodating increasing student numbers. The proposed building, sanctioned by the government, will soon witness the foundation stone-laying ceremony by chief minister Siddaramaiah.
The university was established in Jan 2009 by govt with a campus spread over 55 acres. The university offers various undergraduate and postgraduate law courses in subjects such as constitutional law, intellectual property rights, business and trade law, and criminal and international law.
A G+3 floor building will be constructed on 2.5 acres opposite the current building. The proposed building will have conference halls, a library, an officers’ chamber, an office, a VC’s cabin, a registrar’s cabin and other facilities.
KSLU vice-chancellor Prof C Basavaraju told STOI that as the existing administration building was not sufficient to accommodate more offices, they had demanded a new building, which has been sanctioned by govt.
He said that the university is also operating its law school on the main campus in Hubballi. The university has occupied an esteemed place in the field of legal education. It was established to provide quality legal education. The university has seen exponential growth. A new infrastructure will help the university to run smoothly, he added.
He said that the government had sanctioned Rs 40 crore for the construction of a new administration building. “We have invited the CM to lay the foundation stone for it and are waiting for the CM to start the works,” he said.
