Lucknow: The second day of the Uttar Pradesh Police recruitment exam for 60,244 constable positions saw continued action against fraudulent practises. The UP STF and district police jointly held 118 more cheaters, bringing the total number of arrests to 244, following 126 arrests on Saturday.
DGP Prashant Kumar, who was monitoring the exam’s conduct, expressed satisfaction despite the challenge posed by the massive number of candidates — approximately 50 lakh.He lauded the heightened vigilance of state police agencies over the past week, effectively preventing attempts to compromise exam integrity through paper leaks or solvers.
Kumar highlighted the various security measures implemented, including strict enforcement of rules prohibiting electronic gadgets in exam centres. “Advanced techniques like face recognition, biometric verification, Aadhaar authentication, and jammers to block communication further secured the process,” he added.
The two-day recruitment process, conducted by Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), witnessed an overwhelming response with 48.17 lakh applications received from 11 states — 42 lakh candidates belonged to UP, while the remaining 6 lakh hailed from states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal.
