PANAJI: Goa could soon get a dedicated design policy, with stakeholders and the Startup & IT Promotion Cell already initiating discussions to position Goa as a hub for designers and professionals from the creative industry.
Earlier this month, the Startup & IT Promotion Cell began discussions with the Creative Community of Goa, the president of the Association of Designers of India, Jacob Samuel, and other experts to explore the requirements for the design policy.
The chief executive officer of the Startup & IT Promotion Cell, D S Prashant, said that a detailed plan, timelines, and prospective short-term and long-term objectives were discussed.
“Unlike the traditional route in which policies and interventions are driven from top-down, this is a unique initiative supported to capture pain points, gather insights, and prepare a roadmap for harnessing the opportunity of showcasing Goa,” said Prashant.
Smaller interventions at the urban local body level will be taken up in three to six months with other medium-term proposals anticipated a year later and others in three years, Prashant said.
One of the initiatives planned by the cell is to frame new policies that support a 100% increase in the co-working desks in the state over the next two years.
The cell is also working on a plan to transform 100 villages into hubs for digital nomads and creative innovators.
