MSCB scam: Court notice on EOW’s 2nd closure report | – Times of India

Mumbai: Nearly a month after Mumbai police’s economic offences wing (EOW) filed a second closure report in the Rs 25,000-crore Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam case, a special court has issued a notice to the complainant. The court will hear the complainant on police’s plea. The matter was adjourned to March 1.
The scam came to light after activist Surinder Arora filed a PIL in HC seeking a probe. In 2019, on HC’s orders, police filed a case against an unnamed former CM, deputy CM, ministers and bank directors. The case was later given to EOW. In 2023, ED filed a its first chargesheet against Jarandeshwar Sugar Mills, mentioning deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s link to the firm, but did not name him as an accused.
In 2020, EOW filed its first closure report, but filed a plea to reopen the case in 2022, seeking to probe some suspicious deals. This Jan 20, EOW, through special public prosecutor Ajay Misar, submitted a closure report (C-summary) for the second time. tnn
