Over 80k UP police exam candidates opted trains to head back home in two days, Lucknow division earned 38 % more from unreserved ticket sale | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Northern Railway Lucknow division earned 38 per cent more revenue from unreserved ticket sales during Uttar Pradesh police recruitment exam rush.
According to the division, a total of 80,740 candidates were sent to their respective destinations via trains in a total of two days.
“On February 17 the division earned Rs 37.07 lakh from 34,422 passengers who bought unreserved tickets.The railway administration had arranged four exam special trains for Patna and Barauni in which 11,500 candidates travelled back to their home. However, 21,650 additional candidates opted to travel in regular express trains,” said railway officials.
The official source further added that, “On February 18 the division earned Rs 34.64 lakh from 31,056 unreserved tickets. The division had arranged five exam special trains including one for Delhi and rest for Bihar in which 23,600 candidates travelled back home. Additionally, 23,990 more candidates opted to travel in regular express trains.”
According to the railway, on a normal day an average trend of the unreserved segment at Charbagh station is Rs 25 lakh from 25,037 passengers.
