Owaisi seeks 4 MPs from Maharashtra | AIMIM chief rallies for Lok Sabha polls | Nagpur News – Times of India

Nagpur: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi gave the clarion call for Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra on Sunday at Akola, asking the crowd to elect at least four MPs from the state. This was Owaisi’s first public rally in Maharashtra in the run up to Lok Sabha elections in May.
Owaisi slammed the Congress and NCP for calling him the ‘B team of BJP’ by citing the spate of defections from their parties.
On the eve of Shivaji Jayanti, Owaisi also heaped praise on the founder of the Maratha empire. “The RSS wants you to believe that Shivaji was anti-Muslim, but he had over 15 Muslim generals in his army. Shivaji was someone who protected the weak.”
Addressing the crowd, Owaisi said, “Raise your hands, and in God’s name tell me will you vote (for AIMIM). Promise me you will ensure the victory of four Muslim MPs. Now tell me whose MPs?” The crowd shouted, “Majlees (AIMIM).”
Owaisi said, “Good then, let Eknath Shinde hear it. Let Devendra Fadnavis hear it. That four MPs from Majless will be victorious in Maharashtra.”
Owaisi said PM Narendra Modi has made Muslims irrelevant in politics. “Some 17 crore Muslims have been marginalized by Modi in political sphere,” said the AIMIM leader.
