Lucknow: A brother-sister duo — Ayush Maurya (23) and Sakshi Maurya (21) — died in a road accident on their way to take the UP Police recruitment exam in Jankipuram on Sunday. Both siblings, aspiring police officers, were en route to the second shift exam centre when their two-wheeler collided with a speeding roadways bus near gate number 2 of the Laxman Mela Ground between 1 pm and 1.30 pm.
Ayush lost control of the vehicle, sending them both airborne before they crashed to the ground. The two-wheeler was mangled and flung in another direction. Despite bystanders’ efforts to rush them to the trauma center, both siblings — who were riding without helmets — succumbed to their critical injuries during treatment. The untimely deaths have plunged their family in Rahimnagar colony, Mahanagar, into deep grief. Their parents, still in shock and disbelief, struggle to process the loss.
