Kanpur: As many as 15 children were taken ill after they consumed mid-day meal (MDM) food at a Basic Junior High School near Sarsaul railway station in the district on Monday.
According to reports, the children started vomiting after having the food. When their condition deteriorated, the teachers with the help of a few villagers rushed the children to the Community Health Centre, Sarsaul in an ambulance.
Four of the 15 children– Afzaal (11), Salman (8), Farzana (10) and Afzal (10)– whose condition was stated to be critical, have been shifted to Kanshiram Trauma Centre Ramadevi.
School headmaster OP Verma said that Puri- Sabji was served to the children in the MDM. However, around 15 students complained of uneasiness and started vomiting after eating the food.
Basic Education Officer (BEO) Surjit Kumar Singh said, “An investigation is being conducted into the matter. Strict action will be taken against those found to be responsible for the incident.”
