Chandigarh: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has accused the central govt of adopting double standards, claiming that “wilful defaulters” of loans worth thousands of crores are absolved while farmers are denied similar leniency.
In a protest organised by the PPCC outside the income tax department office in Mohali, Warring condemned the heavy-handed tactics employed by the BJP against opposition entities.Addressing the gathering, Warring alleged, “Willful defaulters and beneficiaries of loan waivers, have contributed Rs 6,500 crore to BJP’s electoral coffers. The populace must understand the links between the same.”
Speaking about the plight of farmers, Warring said, “The agrarian community continues to endure relentless torment at the hands of the govt. Despite the apparent suspension of farm laws, the promise of repeal remains unfulfilled. The central govt aims to dismantle the agrarian backbone of Punjab and propagate the RSS doctrine within the state. We must persist in our struggle against this despotic administration.” Condemning the BJP’s actions of freezing of bank accounts of AICC, Warring declared, “Our faith in the judiciary is unwavering, as evidenced by the Supreme Court’s annulment of BJP’s electoral bonds.”
