Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Greater commissioner Rukmani Riar on Monday instructed officials to conduct surprise inspections at parking lots in the city after she received complaints about rampant illegal parking charges across the city.
On Monday, when she conducted an inspection of the parking at Gaurav Tower, World Trade Park, Pink Haat, JLN Marg, behind GT Mall, she found that the contractor firms were illegally charging more money than the prescribed amount.
Taking strict action on this, the commissioner issued notices to the firms operating the parking lots and instructed the zone deputy commissioner of Malviya Nagar to collect penalties from the concerned firms as per rules.
“If any corporation is found charging illegallyat parking lots, then strict action will be taken against the contractor and if excess amount is charged, a complaint can also be filed at the control room,” said Riar.
Officials said that an amount has been fixed by JMC Greater for the vehicle owners parking at paid parking places, in which for the first three hours, Rs 5 is fixed for bicycle, Rs 10 for motorcycle, scooter and Rs 20 for four-wheeler.
For 3 to 12 hours, the fare has been fixed at Rs 20 for motorcycle, scooter and Rs 40 for four-wheeler. Further, for 12 to 24 hours, the fare has been fixed at Rs 10 for bicycle, Rs 30 for motorcycle, scooter, Rs 50 for four-wheeler and for monthly pass, Rs 150 for bicycle, Rs 400 for motorcycle, scooter and Rs 1,000 for four-wheeler have been fixed.
The commissioner appealed to the general public to complain to the JMC Greater headquarter and concerned zone office if an amount more than what is fixed is charged from the public.
