Noida/Ghaziabad: Schools in both Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad have been allocated 25% of the total budget for the first phase of PM Shri schools. While Ghaziabad schools received Rs 15.1 lakh of the total Rs 60.4 lakh budget, GB Nagar received Rs 24.5 lakh of Rs 98.2 lakh.
The initiative aims at enhance educational infrastructure and facilities in designated schools, officials said.
Sanctioned funds will primarily be utilised for various developmental works, as outlined in the project guidelines. This includes the construction of additional classrooms valued at Rs 9 lakh, the establishment of toilets at the cost of Rs 1.47 lakh, and the creation of Bal Vatika facilities amounting to Rs 15.34 lakh.
According to the official directives for the PM Shri schools project, special provisions must be made to accommodate the needs of students with disabilities. Specifically, the construction of special toilets for children with special needs (CWSN toilets) will be undertaken in selected schools.
The project also entails the construction of Bal Vatika (pre-primary block) in selected PM Shri schools, subject to the approval of the building design and the availability of requisite land (175 sq metre). The Bal Vatika block will comprise amenities such as a classroom, infant matriculation toilet and wash complex, storeroom, and a women’s toilet.
Additional classrooms will also be erected based on land availability, an official said, adding that the evaluation and monitoring of all the construction works in PM Shri schools will be done according to the prescribed standards.
“The progress of the construction works will be recorded on the Prerna mobile application by the headmaster/teacher at various stages. To ensure the technical quality of the construction works, a committee will be formed at the district level under the DM,” a Ghaziabad official said.
