2 members of gang that robbed cab drivers held | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: Delhi Police has busted a gang that targeted cab drivers in the city and other states. Two men have been arrested.
These men, along with an accomplice, would book a ride and rob the driver at a lonely stretch. The accused have been identified as Deepak (20) and Mohit (22), natives of Aligarh and Bulandshahr, respectively.
Police received information about a robbery at 10 am on Feb 17.“The complainant, a cab driver, told us that three people boarded his cab from Mahipalpur Red Light. At a secluded spot in Noida, the trio thrashed the driver and snatched his phones & ATM cards. The accused forcibly withdrew Rs 33,000 using his ATM cards in Noida. They later dumped him at a secluded location in Noida. A case was registered,” said a police officer.
DCP(Southwest) Rohit Meena said that they conducted raids in Noida following an investigation and apprehended Deepak. “Based on the information provided by him, another accused, Mohit, was arrested from a village in Bulandshahr. One of the stolen mobile phones and Rs 2,800 were recovered from the accused,” the officer added.
Further raids were held at the possible hideout of the third co-accused, Gagan, but he remains absconding. tnn
