4 Cops Accused of Molestation, Absenteeism, and Theft Sent to Police Lines | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: Three policemen accused of molestation and mobile theft, along with a departmental cook, accused of disappearing without notice, were found guilty in the investigation.
DCP headquarters punished all four police personnel to minimum pay scale for three years. They were removed from the police stations and attached to police lines.
On Jan 3, 2023, PRV (police response vehicle) constables Hariom Singh and Sushant Kumar had allegedly barged into the house of a woman resident of Naubasta and molested her.When the woman tried to escape, the constables allegedly chased her for 30 metres and gave up only when she raised an alarm. Then Commissioner of Police B P Jogdand had suspended both the policemen on the basis of findings in the investigation report. Based on the woman’s complaint, FIR was lodged under IPC sections of molestation and stalking.
Constable Rakesh Kumar was found guilty of stealing a mobile phone during his posting at Maharajpur police station. Departmental employee (cook) Shubham Kumar, posted at Chamanganj police station, was accused of remaining absent from duty without any notice.
An ACP rank official conducted a year-long departmental investigation and after the report was submitted to the DCP headquarters, the four were punished to receiving minimum wages for three years, said Ashish Srivastava, DCP (Headquarters).
