Nagpur: The prestigious 25th annual Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM), organized by the ministry of cultural affairs and National School of Drama, makes its mark in Nagpur on Wednesday with several performances at two locations showcasing diverse cultural forms.
This year, BRM takes special significance as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating India’s 75th year of independence.As the festival travels across 15 cities, Nagpur becomes the stage for over 150 performances, highlighting the depth and talent of Indian theatre.

Bharat Rang Mahotsav to celebrate cultural forms

Cultural groups of Nagpur will come together at Sai Sabhagruha, Shankar Nagar (11am-3pm). They will present a captivating display of drama, folk dance and music, all revolving around the themes of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam (one world family), Panch Pran (five pledges), and Vikasit Bharat (developed India).
Artists of Deoraoji Kubde Seva Pratisthan, Tandav Creations, Rangbhoomi Group, Nataraj Group, Swar Manthan, Kala Gaurav, Vaibhav Sanskrutik Mandal and many other leading cultural groups will participate with their theatrical presentations. Vilas Kubde, the chief organizer and coordinator of BRM events in Nagpur said that a variety of theatrical events will be presented in Nagpur.
Folk artists from Nagpur and Ramtek will be performing at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Convention Centre (12pm-3pm). A Gondhal performance depicting a developed India will be presented by Jai Bhim Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti. Wit and wisdom of Khadi Gammat will be presented by Shahir Tembhurne Guruji. A powerful message of global unity will be delivered through a street play by The Lord Ashoka Backward Multipurpose Society.
Chautali Bhajan Dandar Mandal Lakhani-Bhandara and Maa Sharda Multipurpose Organization will present energetic tribal group dances. Entry is free for all at both venues.
The Bharat Rang Mahotsav is recognized as the world’s largest theatre festival. The 2024 edition of this festival was inaugurated at National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai on February 1. From February 1 to 21, the BRM 2024 events are being held across 15 cities, featuring a diverse array of over 150 performances. Beyond the theatrical presentations, this festival offers workshops, discussions, and master classes, on both Indian and global theatre traditions.
