Liquor Shop Licences Not Renewed to be Auctioned in Jaipur | Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: Liquor shops whose licences have not been renewed by their current owners will be auctioned, with online bidding scheduled to take place in the state from Feb 27 to April 1.
Bidding will be conducted for over 1,800 shops in the state. The state govt included a provision for renewing shop licences in the excise policy for 2024-25. However, as of Feb 19, only 34% of owners have renewed their licences.
An official said, “Out of 7,665 shops, 2,625 shop owners have renewed their licences.In Jaipur, out of 358 shops, only 164 owners have renewed their licences.”
Due to low number of licence renewals, the department extended the deadline for renewal till Feb 23.
The excise department has decided to conduct auction in two phases. The first phase of the auction will be held on Feb 27 and second phase on Feb 29.
An official said there are 7,665 liquor shops in the state, with 1,805 of them considered ineligible for renewal and thus excluded. TNN
