A Compressed Biogas (CBG)/ Renewable Natural Gas (#RNG) project has been commissioned in Haryana‘s Karnal under the Centre’s initiative of Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT).
The initiative by LR Energy utilises waste from the sugar industry and agricultural residues as feedstock. With a capacity to produce 2000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of CBG and 9000 MTPA of FOM, the project directly addresses Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, identity innovation and infrastructure, and climate action.
“This significant step towards sustainable energy underlines our commitment to aligning with national initiatives and fostering a cleaner, greener future for India. We’re not just investing in CBG; we’re investing in a sustainable and resilient future for our nation.
Together, we power progress and sustainability,” said GS Barara director & CEO of LR Energy.
The inauguration of this CBG project aims to support India’s goal of becoming a gas-based economy. The company plans to expand its green portfolio with over 20 projects across North India, representing a cumulative investment of Rs 600 crore (US$70 Mn).
The company has secured a 15-year-old long-term commercial sales agreements with Indian Oil Corporation Limited and a Tripartite Agreement with GAIL India and GAIL Gas Limited.
