Dibrugarh: DGP GP Singh reviewed the election preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and law and order in Dibrugarh and Jorhat on Tuesday.
The DGP held meetings with the top brass of the police in both the districts. The review of election preparations and law and order for North Eastern Range was held in Dibrugarh while the review of election preparations and law and order for the Eastern Range was held in Jorhat.
During the meeting in Dibrugarh, DIG (North Eastern range) Jitmol Doley, Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra, Tinsukia SP Abhijit Gurav, Sadiya SP Mrinal Deka, Dhemaji SP Ranjan Bhuyan and Lakhimpur SP Aparna Natrajan were present.At the meeting held in Jorhat, Jorhat SP ML Meena, Sivasagar SP Subhrajyoti Borah, Majuli SP Bibekananda Das, Charaideo SP Hiranya Kumar Barman and Golaghat SP Rajen Singh were present.
During the two meetings, the DGP stressed on the importance of ensuring smooth conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the role of the police force to provide a safe and secure environment for voters to exercise their democratic right without any fear or intimidation. He also spoke on the need for strict vigilance to prevent any instances of voter intimidation or illegal activities during the run-up to the elections. Urging the police to remain vigilant and proactive in maintaining law and order, he directed them to gear up to handle any challenges that may arise during the electoral process.
The meetings also discussed the deployment of security personnel at polling stations, the monitoring of sensitive areas, and coordination with other law enforcement agencies to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.
