Four Big Cats Still Missing in Kawal, Hyderabad | Hyderabad News – Times of India

Hyderabad: The mystery surrounding the four missing tigers of same family in Kawal has deepened further. While no images of the big cats have been found so far from the camera traps, forest officials stuck to their theory that pug marks had been found and that the tigers are very much alive.
In early January, two tigers — father and sub-adult — were found dead in the reserve forest near Darigaon village in Kagaznagar tiger corridor in Asifabad district while the mother and three cubs have gone missing.
Asifabad divisional forest officer Neeraj Tibrewal said they found pug marks 15 days ago. “Locals also cited the tigers. We are assuming one of the cubs may have crossed over to Maharashtra before the Jan 8 incident. We searched the entire area. Due to the dry season, we are not getting the pug marks now. The tigers may have moved towards Ginnedhar and Jannaram hilly areas. We are still searching and a few NGOs are also working on it,” he said.
Tibrewal said: “The other cub may also have gone to Maharashtra by crossing the rivulet. Tiger is a shy species. When there is human disturbance, it will try to avoid that area. Camera traps are set up in regular trails of the tiger. As this area is not a regular trail, we are not getting the images.”
