NSA on farmer leaders in Ambala, as police claim protestors being provoked against government | Chandigarh News – Times of India

AMBALA: The Haryana police in Ambala district said that they have initiated action against farmer leaders actively involved in ongoing protest at the state border under the provisions of the National Security Act (NSA), 1980.
In an official release on Thursday, Ambala police said that since February 13, continuous efforts are being made by farmers’ unions to break the barricades put up at Shambhu border in connection with the call of march to Delhi.
“Daily attempts are being made to spoil the law and order by pelting stones at the police administration and by creating ruckus. During this period, a lot of damage has been caused to government and private property by the hooligans. The damage caused to government and private property by the agitators is being assesses”, said Ambala police.
“Several leaders actively involved in Andolan are working to disturb law and order. Regularly, on social media like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, etc. provoking speeches are being given. Posts are being made to disturb communal harmony. With regular speeches in Andolan, protestors are being provoked against the administration. Wrong words are being used against administrative officials, government. In lieu of the Andolan, hooligans have committed serious violence”, said Ambala police in its X post.
“In this regard, action is being taken by the administration against the agitators and office-bearers of the (farmer) unions under Section 2(3) of the National Security Act, 1980, so that, law and order is maintained and communal harmony is not disturbed”, said the Ambala police.
